A two-alarm fire burned through the roof of 570 East Fordham Road early Wednesday morning, wreaking havoc on Pete’s Cafe — a popular diner among Rose Hill students and alumni — and several apartments above.
No students were involved in the incident, school officials told Fordham Daily.
A fire marshal had been brought in to investigate the cause of the fire, which remained unclear as of Thursday, an FDNY source said.
The restaurant is currently closed, and it is unclear when it will reopen. Calls to Pete’s went unanswered late Wednesday morning.
One person was injured in the blaze, according to media reports. The fire was reported around 3:20 a.m. and was under control shortly after 4 a.m.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
A family of 11 was among those sleeping in the apartments above Pete’s when the fire started, News 12 reported. All made it out of the building.
