John Carroll, associate vice president of Public Safety at Fordham, will address students during this week’s ASILI – The Black Student Alliance meeting, the group announced on social media.
This special visit comes almost two weeks after Fordham officials described two men, who allegedly assaulted a student in an off-campus apartment, as “male blacks.” The alert was emailed to the student body, as well as faculty and staff.
“John Carroll, the associate vice president of Fordham Public Safety, will be joining us to answer all questions regarding the security alert that went out,” ASILI said on Facebook.
Following student outrage for the offensive description, Bob Howe, Senior Director of Communications, issued a formal apology. (A source within administration has since revealed to Fordham Daily that the attacked student was interacting with local drug dealers at the time of the incident.)
The meeting will begin at 2 p.m. on Wed, March 11. A specific location has not yet been specified.
