As students shuffled to class early Tuesday morning, large spotlights hogged the bulk of a widely traversed walkway between Duane and Dealy. A series of trucks clogged the nearby road, and people dressed in t-shirts and shorts were transporting bins of metallic filming equipment.
It was a sight not often seen at Rose Hill.
Turns out, the production crew of the new CBS drama “Madam Secretary,” starring Tea Leoni and Tim Daly, was filming for an upcoming episode.
The crew arrived on campus Monday, was filming Tuesday and would be wrapping up on Wednesday, school officials confirmed to Fordham Daily. Students who were scheduled to have class in Dealy, where the production crew was filming, were relocated to another location.
Leoni plays Elizabeth McCord, a college professor and ex-CIA agent, who is unexpectedly called back into politics by the president after a plane carrying the secretary of state crashes.
Students reported seeing Leoni on campus.
New episodes of “Madam Secretary” air on CBS, Sundays at 8 p.m.
This is hardly the first time Fordham has been featured on film. Most recently, “The Adjustment Bureau,” “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps” and “Fair Game” were in part shot at Rose Hill.
Students reacted to the filming on the anonymous social media app, Yik Yak:
