Sears announced plans this week to shutter is longtime retail location on Fordham Road — its last remaining store in the Bronx. The store, located across from Fordham’s Metro North train station and in between Walgreen’s and Best Buy, has long been helpful for students in need of last-minute snow boots, fans — and everything in between.
The store closure is part of a larger movement within the chain aimed at reducing costs and stalling revenue losses, a spokesperson told News 12. The store, which has 91 employees, will begin its liquidation sale at the end of September. It is unclear what will move into the location.
