The Ram Van Office announced this week the price of a one-way ticket between Rose Hill and Lincoln Center will be hiked from $3 to $3.50, increasing a roundtrip ticket cost to $7, effective starting Aug. 18.
Marc Canton, director of University Transportation, says the ticket price was last increased from $2.50 to $3 in 2007.
“As you can imagine, expenses associated with providing transportation services have increased quite a bit since then, which is the main reason for the fare hike,” Canton told Fordham Daily.
He added that his office has tried to keep the ticket price down — even cutting budgets several times since 2007 — but ultimately an increase was inevitable.
“The continued growth in cost combined with increased fiscal pressures all private schools seem to be facing, has made this increase necessary,” Canton said.
A single MTA subway fare has increased by 75 cents since 2007; it now costs $2.50.
The Ram first reported the ticket price increase via Twitter.
